Dallas apparently has a Vespa motor scooter dealer. First I knew of it was last night when they interviewed him on local TV news and he claimed sales were booming because of the possible reality that Gasoline is forecasted to reach $3.00 a gallon by the end of the year. My Westy only gets about 18 mpg around town (I drive slow) and possibly 21 on the highway not fighting winds. Some less if I've got heavy head winds. The current lineup of Automobiles that will deliver 30+ miles per gallon aren't very attractive to me. I believe that I'd opt-out for a VW bug of early vintage with a complete restoration before I'd invest in a newer Asian or US made car claiming 30+ mpg. Honda and Yamaha also make "Residential Scooters", I call them residential because I sure wouldn't take them more than 3 miles in heavy traffic.
