When I worked for a local Forklift dealership we had two models of the Linde/Baker forklift that had VW/Audi engines in them, one had a 4 cylinder 1.6L, the other had a 5 cylinder 2.3L... Both ran on propane.

The fuel systems on both these engines was fairly common and pretty much interchangeable... Imagine if you will pulling into your local propane distributor and asking them "to fill it with regular" <<G>> Twin 40 lb. tanks should give you a fairly decent range...
