Dave,

When the Overland guys did their demo at SF Van-O-Rama they presented it as a conversion for the gas engine equipped vans. In other words you do not need a diesel tranny or bellhousing to use them. It would probably advantageous to use a WBX or air-cooled Vanagon tranny for the taller ratios anyway.

Tonight I took home my 2wd Double Cab with one of Overland's earlier 1.9TD conversions in it. I was very impressed even with this non-TDi engine. Has an air-cooled tranny in it with a diesel bellhousing. This is the "laydown" configuration. I was doing 75 mph easily w/o any undue stress on the engine. I could still power-up quite a bit from that speed. Tires were 195/70/14.
