The Lambda O2 sensor is perhaps THE most important sensor in the late Vanagon injection. After as all of the other inputs are considered (temperature, air flow, etc) the logic program is heavily influenced by the Lambda's evaluation of the "final condition" of the effluent.

Without it, the ECU can rely only on its "limp home" program, which is characteristically rich, and very poorly managed. Buy an O2 sensor, ASAP.

my van was running really bad no power or anything. so i replace the temp sensor no luck . than i disconnected the o2 sensor and it s now drivable . first off what is a disadvantagesx of haveing no o2 sensor hooked up. i am guessin low MPG. and can i just use a single wire o2 sensor. any comments suggestions or ideas will be a great help. sorry i cant figure out the archives. thanks patrrick 87 wolfs 4 speed 2.lL 273k miles 55k on 02 sensor
