Count the O rings on your Vanagon.
You'll see that they are used on the A/C system and almost nowhere else.
Your power steering on later Vanagons would be one of the exceptions.
Fresh O rings are most desirable, your kit will go sour and be useless.
It is also very difficult to make the newer silicone O rings in the small
diameters used in the A/C system.
I wouldn't trust a home made O ring on my Oil Pickup Tube since this is
the key to getting home.
I've got an O ring assortment in a very nice 24 compartment kit
................ I'm thinking about transferring the O rings to a zip
lock bag and using the assortment box for wavy washers, relays, switches,
sun visor hold up clips and assorted plastic plugs that often get lost
from windshield wiper arms, seat belt bolts.
If you had an equipment rental yard, I'd say buy the kit for emergencies.
