No problem with the shims Tom.
I just wanted you to remember that air cooled AMC heads don't use head
gaskets.
One of the recent post suggest that you seat the individual cylinders to
the head mating surface.
I see the mating of the head / cylinder as a worthwhile 20 minute
procedure.
Whether it be a .010 0r .020 shim will make very little difference in
your performance.
Just out of curiosity ........... what cc did you get for the combustion
chamber of the head?
I've got about 15K on my newly rebuilt Type IV with new AMC heads and I
seldom run hotter than 350 CHT on #3 even at hard driving and ambient
temperature of 100 degrees (f).
I have forecasted my CR as 7.4 with the .028 deck height and I'm very
pleased with the performance and dependability.
