The facts are that smiley faces are text characters. :-) (there should be a smiley face at the end of that sentence) Its just parenthesis, a hyphen, and a colon. Those are ascii characters, valid in a text message. HTML is embedded code that a browser reads to know where to place text, font sizes, colors, and other formating information for displaying the text and pictures. Not sure what facts you are looking for, but if you type a standard (not extended ascii) character on your keyboard, and it does not show up on in the message, something is not set up right on your end, or with the server. I never noticed or looked for them on the list, but I can assure you that they have nothing to do with HTML format info. Can you not send a message with parenthesis?
