for those interested in a nice place on Vancouver Island to head off to in a Vanagon (yes, I know you have to get out of the van and into a kayak/canoe!) check out the article in the Feb issue of National Geographic. BTW that Ruskie helicoflopper pictured (KA32 or something, with contra-rotating props) sometimes whizzes over my house on way to VIH base at the local airport. We call it the Rushin' helicopter, yuck yuck. It and I think a mate, were transported here about 2-3 years ago in a nice Russian transport plane.
