I am currently using a 1.9 starter on my 2.1. (Both automatics, if that's relevant). The 1.9 starter is about 1/2 inch shorter if I recall, but seemed to fit just fine. It did seem to crank kind of slowly in 0 F weather, but there are many other factors there. The 2.1 starter that I took off needs to be rebuilt. One of there days, I have to stop procrastinating. :-)
