Brian,

The only difference in the mounting of the power mirrors is the third screw at the bottom. The doors in power mirror equipped vans have a nut welded in the door. I found that using a matching screw and a loose nut with a lock washer makes even more sense as it keeps thieves from simply unscrewing the mirror from the outside.

I also use the power mirrors in one of my van w/o any power at all. Works just fine and does not flop around like the non-power mirrors. I have to adjust manually by pushing the mirror itself around. Just set and forget.

If you must have the power option, it is best to remove the entire mirror harness from the donor van. DO NOT cut the connectors from the power mirrors to remove them. You can insert a small screw driver and pry them off the spade connectors. You can them remove the mirrors from the doors w/o cutting anything. The spade connectors will pop back into the plastic connector housings after you install the mirrors.
