Sure, a Vanagon can tow a 'Loaf", but it should be done on a limited basis such as to get one home after a breakdown. You will need a strong hitch on the Vanagon and a proper tow bar set up for the Loaf. Roadmaster has the proper brackets for the Loaf. You should also consider some form of brake activation for the towed vehicle in case of break-away and to take some of the load off the van doing the towing. Many states now require towed vehicles to have auxiliary braking.

Has anyone ever seen this done, can it be done... I'm thinking well...

I need a second vehicle... and since the loaf is better than the vanagon in snow and I can't afford a synchro... (nor do I want to worry about the viscous coupling and tire rotation et et)..

Why not tow a bus (with a stick in neutral) to where I'm heading.. and when it snows just ride the bus..

And when the vanagon breaks down use the bus to tow the vanagon (no, I don't think it could do that...)
