I'm going to install .020" barrel spacers in place of the .030" ones that are there. Since I cc'd the heads and measured the deck height prior to putting the engine together I know what the CR is and what it will be. Tom ---------------------------- Clip --------------------- Latest word not in Muir, Bentley, Tom Wilson is that it is good to have an aluminum spacer as a heat transfer devise. The thickness doesn't matter that much as long as you come out with the deck heigth that you want. If it takes leaving the barrel shim out it is just suggested that you seal it with something like Permatex Copper sealer. I've never reused VW OEM heads but I see that variable instructions exist for compensating for recesses pressed into the softer VW heads by the cylinders if they are not fly cut back to the proper depth. Which of course has no bearing since you've got AMCs. Sounds like you've done the math ................. You can double check it at. http://www.torinocobra.com/Randys_tools.htm CC of your engine http://www.nateswaterart.com/vw/calculating_cr/ Calculating Compression Ratio http://www.sciencemadesimple.net/EASYvolume.html Calculating Cubic inches to CC or Reverse
