Hi Again folks, Well, I dug my van out today and brought it to a local Mech with some Golf/Jetta exp. He couldn't find anything wrong vacuum leak or exhaust system wise, and felt it was AFM oriented. He didn't however have a computer to work on this particular digifant/2.1l, so doesn't want to go further. I'm bringing it to a second Brooklyn place that has some vanagon customers- hopefully they'll have the tools. Maybe I'll bring them the bentley for good measure. I'm running out of time and ideas, and so I'm writing to you all again. Thanks to everyone who provided guidance before, it did help narrow things down a bit. If anyone else want to take a stab, here's the facts: -88 GL, 2.1L 115k -Starts fine, but as engine warms up(10-15 min) the idle starts fluctuating a bit then drops way low (figure around 500 on the dash tach). Driving it means a lot of bucking and no power, and fighting stalling. -all this started prior to the big snow's we've had. -Cap and rotor replaced (to no effect) -Timing with V-notch matching crankcase joint at 2500rpm. -before this started I'd replaced the temp sender for the dash. Lost alot of coolant, replaced it. As of this morning, no air left in expansion tank, so I'm guessing the system is bled. -Running engine with ISV valve disconnected, along with the single connector to the Idle stabilizer unit behind the tailight. Been this way for almost a year, only a problem when parallel parking with a cold engine.

Sorry for the repost, but I'm finding out that the list is the best source of living info. Thanks, -Matt Sutton
