i agree--not good. there is a small tank available that's designed to fit above the spare tire. i saw one at the wisconsin busbietzer show/swap in oct. i'm sure it came from a bus so i was thinking "would it fit vanagon wheel???" now i see a guy pick it up and buy it for about $20(new they're about $75). my buddy then tells me, of course it will fit vanagon.

is this true?

I don't think that carrying gas in the passenger compartment is recommended. Or legal. Or a very good idea.
