Okay, I got ahold of a new ignition switch and went out to see about installing it. I got the steering wheel and assorted plastic removed, and I was able to easily disconnect the wiring from the back of the old switch. Just for curiosity's sake, I reached behind the pass. seat and (briefly) reconnected the battery. The starter still came on! If the problem lay in the ignition switch, wouldn't disconnecting it kill the starter too? Where else should I look for a short? Keep in mind that I'm at work, and dressed in khakis and a nice sweater ;). Also, I poked around some more under the dash, and all the wiring looks ship-shape at a glance. I didn't see anything obviously cooked... TIA

JJ
