it will work fine. The 3 wire sensor has 2 wires for the heater that get the sensor to temp quicker. the 1 wire system has only a signal wire. If you got the 1 wire route if you look at your old connecotr you have a 2 wire and a single 1 wire connector. just connect the single 1 wire to the 1 wire spade connector. btw, the heater is always the two wires that are the same color, like 2 whites.

the 4 wire sensor has 1 signal, 1 signal ground and 2 heater.
