Subject: sand in my bra

Now that I've got your attention, maybe someone can help me out. I am going into my second season with a Colgan bra on my '90 Westy. While it does prevent rock chips and keeps the bugs off the front, and especially out of the A/C condenser, it presents new problems of maintenance and cleaning. The biggest problem is sand collecting underneath around the edges. This happens everytime I drive to San Diego on the highways through the sand dunes of Imperial Valley, where there is almost always blowing sand and sometimes flat-out sand storms. What I am doing now, is washing it with a mild solution of dishwashing soap while it is still on the van, rinsing and wiping down, and then removing and draping over something to dry while I wash the rest of the van. When it is dry, I have to vacuum the fine sand out of the felt backing. So, how are others cleaning and maintaining their bras. On their vans, of course. Jerry
