Subject: Advice sought on non-Vanagon vehicle
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Hello all,

If you are not interested in reading about non-Vanagon content, then please delete/overlook this e-mail. But I would appreciate the wisdom of the list members if some of you are so inclined to help.

I have realized the hauling limits of my Westy and have started looking around for a pickup truck. I have found a very nice 1995 Toyota V6 in excellent condition. However it has a funny vibration coming from the engine when it revs up between 2800 and 4000 RPM's. Below and above that range it runs smooth and quiet, but in that range, even when sitting still there is lots of vibration felt through the whole body of the truck. I was interested in what others' thoughts on this might be. The replacement Toyota short block only has 20K miles on it, but the rest of the vehicle has 122K.

I was thinking maybe motor mounts or the recently installed Meineke muffler, but since it runs smoothly over 4000 RPM I'm not inclined to consider the muffler theory too much.

If any of you could offer some advice, I'd appreciate it. Thanks,

Eric in NC '88 Westy
