Subject: are steering rack boots supposed to be filled with fluid??
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; format=flowed

Hi all,

Are they?? I have power steering (a ZF unit that was installed by the PO, 4 years ago) and have noticed a leak. The leak is because of the driver's side boot having slipped off. Whilst I am trying to slip it back on (any tricks with this??), is there supposed to be fluid in those???

Looks like I'll be having another Vanagon weekend with coolant dripping from the center of my engine (1 1/2 week old FGA warranty replacement...)

There's always something.

Matthias
