Stan - Vanagons don't have modern engines ....... basically the old
Porsche design of 1938
Pick up a copy of "Small Wonder" its a book that gives VW history.

Stan -Admittedly 10 / 19 year old Wasser Boxers might have problems, but
start looking around for other cars the same age on the roads. Not Many
out there. None on my block and the only other two I know of in the
neighborhood are a 1978 Westy and a 1972 Combi. Pretty sane neighborhood?
