Stan >Many of the problems encountered with VW engines is the extreme lack of >maintenance. ---------------------- Andrew >I can't agree. Modern engines should be low-maintenance bulletproof). --------------------- Stan - Vanagons don't have modern engines ....... basically the old Porsche design of 1938 Pick up a copy of "Small Wonder" its a book that gives VW history. -------------------- Andew > The solution to Bad Engines isn't an engine conversion. -------------------- Andrew >Sure it is. -------------------- Stan -Who in the world other than Vanagon owners even consider engine swaps? Please leave off car thieves. -------------------- >Replacing your engine is 90% of good thinking but neglecting other things --------------------- >Possibly, but that doesn't the counter head corrosion or crank failure VW's wasserboxer are so prone to. --------------------- Stan -Admittedly 10 / 19 year old Wasser Boxers might have problems, but start looking around for other cars the same age on the roads. Not Many out there. None on my block and the only other two I know of in the neighborhood are a 1978 Westy and a 1972 Combi. Pretty sane neighborhood?
