Subject: HELP! '81 cratered on the way to work this morning...
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed

As I exited the freeway this morning in my '81, my CD player quit, and then came back on. I simultaneously smelled hot wiring, the e-brake light came on (WTH?) and the the van lost power. The engine was still running, but wouldn't rev. This puzzles me especially since the van has a progressive Weber conversion. Power came back and I made it to the office, and shut it off. I heard a sound like a high-pitched ventilator fan running in the engine compartment (a sound I've never heard before). It ran after shutoff for a minute or two and then quit. The van will not start now, as if it doesn't have power to the starter. All dash lights work, the CD player comes on, and I can hear the electric fuel pump (aftermarket). What the heck happened to my bus? Should I be looking for a particular blown fuse, or am I just up the creek? Any insight would be MUCH appreciated!

JJ
