Check Ron's Tranxaxles in San Pablo (near Richmond, across the bay from
Marin). He rebuilt mine years ago, and is favored by my favorite
mechanics. He is the local, highly esteemed rebuilder of Syncro
Transaxles, too.

hey all,

just limped home my '81 westy.... thanks to all for guidance and advice.

the tranny needs to be rebuilt and i am looking for a good reliable
rebuild in the san francisco bay area, if anyone knows of a place.

also, the front end is squeaking like a rusty mattress. what would be
the cause? the front end seems fine other than the constant squeaking.\

other than that, she's beautiful.

i also wanted to ask what is the best manual to have for work on my new
westy. --does the muir manual apply to the '81 since the engines were
the same as the '79?
