Hi Folks, Well, the van("help losing idle" thread from this week) is in the shop. Replacing the ISC/ISV hasn't done any good, some more parts are going in today, including an FI temp sender. I woke up this morning with the Bentley resistance/temp curves in my head for some reason. Has anyone ever tried substituting a manually variable resistor for either of the FI Temp senders(air/ coolant)? What would be the required specs for this potentiometer/rheostat? I'm imagining this could be useful in a few ways: Dialing in the the correct resistance for the outside air temp or warm/cool engine you could at least know exactly what the ECU was getting on those fronts, and be able to pin down other aspects of the FI without the expense of swapping sensors. Also, in a pinch these could be used in a driving situation, creating a kind of tune-as-you-go situation(the outside air dialed in, the resistance lowered as the coolant comes to operating temp) until you can get parts changed. This seems like it should work. Though the ECU is reacting very quickly, the variable resistors in the various FI temp senders react to changes very slowly, well in the realm of manual adjustment. What do you all think? -Matt Sutton 88GL(unwell)
