I was told they came preset from the factory.  I marked the current location
and then turned them back and marked that also.  I then turned them all up 1
full turn.  They don't click in place, you need to mark the shock body.

You should be able to turn them up to 5 half turns.

Now the Vanagon shocks may be a bit different.
