My VW dealer tried to tell me that I needed the have the CVs > repacked every 30k on my Jetta and that they would do it.... for a > small fee. --------------------------- Clip ---------------------- I inspect and lube my CVs about every 15-20K. Works out to about one a year. I get long Q tips on wood sticks at Ace Hardware and stick it down in there to see how metallic, how dry or how no grease there is. I see that my CVs leak grease out into the swing arm boxes, not much but enough to make me cautious. If a boot goes bad I remove, clean, replace the boot and repack both axles ............. I keep a spare set booted up but not greased since I use them on my restoration jobs. Worst case scenario is it is a $70/90 part but if a bearing cage breaks it can cripple you.

Stan
