Subject: Vanagon cold bucking syndrome - partial fix..
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii; format=flowed

For those of you who have been struggling with the Vanagon cold-start bucking. [Aproximately one to two minutes after starting, the moter will momentarily bog and nothing except full thottle will save you.]

I've made two changes that have, for me, eliminated the problem. Since I did both at the same time, I can't say for sure which did the trick. The first was to replace the vacuum hose from the fuel pressure regulator to the intake plenum. I found that while the hose looked fine, it was infact so brittle at the intake manafold end it crumbled when I pulled it off.

The second was to replace the idle stabilizer relay (behind the left rear tail light.)

Hope that helps the people who have run into this problem
