I'm pretty sure the "spec" is 2mm variance in diameter...pretty close
tolerance, isn't it! check to be sure the spare is the same size as the
others. (viscous couplers are only $875)  ;>)
The most wear will occur in the front tires so put the new tire, if it's
within that spec tolerance, on the front and rotate a tire off the rear to
the spare spot. If you'll rotate your tires every 5K for the next couple
times, this one will likely "catch up", especially if you just take it rf to
lf a couple times in this process.

We just purchased an '86 syncro. The tires are in excellent shape, but the
spare has not been part of the rotation. Any advice regarding how much tread
difference is allowable without causing problems, and if there is a "best"
spot (front or back) to bring the spare into rotation? Thanks!
