You can bring an external sense lead out from the Bosch regulator --
involves bending clear the contact inside the alternator, and bringing a
wire out instead.  Instructions available on the web from an outfit that
makes battery isolators, forget the name -- might be Sure Power or some
such.  I think they call their product by a fancier name, too...
