Sid-hoist it up on a jack stand- jiggle the wheel on affected side with
hands at 6-12 oclock and 9-3 o'clock positions. place a 2 x 4 flat under
tire and pry up to check for lower joint.
If wheel nut is not actually loose, any play is (hopefully) upper joint -
easiest to replace. Might also find loose bits elsewhere- radius rod
bushing, etc.
We are leaving for the South tonight. Should be in Mississippi after lunch
Sat.
Might be heading into N.O. If you need a wrench-give a call. Might be able
to wrestle computer from kids & get online this weekend.George

Ok, another challenge. What is the clunk on rough roads from the right front
on a 1987 Westy with supposed 78,000 miles- second owner-ME.
Bushing, shock, ideas on how to check.
