I've had a 02 TDI Jetta automatic since Aug. Never got more than 43 mpg on the road and 36-7 in town. Blows a Lot of smoke on hard acceleration [which was never done until the engine had 5000 miles on it].

Car drives more precisely than my 98 Honda Civic did but the space is not used as well. Seats are better in terms of not hurting my back which is why I traded the Honda for the VW.
