Hmm interesting to hear about the AC brackets breaking. Maybe someone
overtightened the compressor. I have installed ten I-4 covnersions in these
vanagons so I know a little bit about this. In your statement that the I-4
conversion is at least as reliable as the WBX; I would have to say that is
incorrect. headgaskets on I-4 engines do not leak every 50k mi like
clockwork. Neither is it common for an I-4 engine to throw a rod through the
block due to oil problems. So for the record, I am in no way stating that
the WBX engine is in any way a good engine vs. the I-4.
My whole response to the post was that it seemed rather pointless. If you
want to have a Japanese engine in your Vanagon thats fine. Have fun getting
someone to fix it right when you are in Hattiesburg MS. when it breaks down.
I jsut dont see the point in making a negative post about the Tiico engine
conversion like that. I can understand if someone has a question or wanted
to share something. I jsut dont see the point of the post. Thats as bad as
making fun of a little kid with glasses.
