Subject: 1.9L-adjusting mixture(or not) at afm questions
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

so i have been trying to solve a no cold idle issue. i

have a new afm so i have been playing with it. i noticed this weekend, while i was setting the timing, that leaning out the mixture, or using that 7mm? adjustment hex screw on the afm(clockwise),causes the idle to pick up...? can anyone tell me why that is happening? the opposite happens when the mixture is rich, idle go's lower and runs rough. i got the van to idle by itself, by playing with the afm and throttle adjustment screw. it would still die if i rev it up and let off the gas, or it will run as long as i keep my foot on the gas, until warm, then it will run just fine. i'm just wondering about the mixture, cause right now i would think it is running pretty lean, only 1-1/2 turns out from the bottom. it seems to run much better the leaner i get it, like it will more than likely run well if i close that afm screw all the way down. just worried about burning a hole in a piston i guess, as i have read here that can happen. any constructive thoughts appreciated.
