Thanks Todd, that's perfect! It makes sooo much more sense to get the voltage reference off the battery end of the alternator wire, rather than pick it up at the alternator end.

I'll be adding a deep cycle house battery and good charging performance is a must for me.

The GM 1-wire conversion article was interesting also, but... nah.
