I think Vanaorak asked "Why?" in response to my statement that I can go 100mph uphill. I reply:

It isn't that I drive at 100 mph, which I have only done once (yes, uphill). It's that I can keep up with traffic at 75mph and not be a nuisance or obstruction. I can carry a huge payload and still accelerate down an on-ramp and smoothly/safely enter traffic. I can climb up steep grades in the woods without any problems. I downshift less often. I can punch it to quickly evade or escape nasty situations that arise on the road.

Having more power opens up more options to the driver, period. It's not just about speeding. Think beyond that.
