Yes Ben, Its true that the best Subaru conversion kit must be "assembled" from a couple of sources but its not difficult. ... and yes its also true that a Phase II 2.5 has net yet "run the gauntlet" for a CA smog. I believe one is currently in progress however. Last time I looked at an I5 conversion, looked to me like it would take a bit of effort also. Not a "walk in the park" either. That's probably why Detlev gets a nice chunk of change for doing it. Not knocking the VW/Audi choice either. Just like to keep it known that there is are choices. Originally I preferred "all German" also, but ...just didn't like the test drive I had in the one I5 conversion I could find at the time. . MY USUAL ADVICE FOR CONVERSION SHOPPERS......TEST DRIVE FIRST.......PAY LATER! I recently saw another interesting choice. A Nissan Maxima 190hp V6.....a very nice engine by the way....fitted UNDER THE LID ....AND passed smog in CA. Warren |
