If I pump them up, I can lock up the wheels, but steady pressure and the pedal slowly goes down. ------------------------ Clip ----------------------- The key word I was looking for was NEW and I didn't see it. I must assume that your master cylinder is old by some years. I'd just install a new one. Suck the fluid out of the vacuum booster with a turkey baster or other devise. Then swab it with old lint free T shirts, just cram them down in there and get the diphram area as clean as possible. This is a great time to purge the entire system and put DOT4 fluid into it. While you got the resivour off clean the black soot out with brake cleaner or again just use a lint free rag to clean it. Unless yuou've done some brake work or have a visible leak at another location you can pretty well bet it is the Master Cylinder. The upside is that they last a long time, mine is over 8 years old and I haven't installed my new spare yet. Check out Bus Depot .............. I think they have one for about $39.00 or the gold plated German one for about $89.00
