If it happens frequently, you have a bad lifter or two. Locate and
replace the offending lifter.

What brand of oil filter are you using. Should be a Mann or Mahle filter
- available from some of our list vendors.  Because of the internal
construction, these filters maintain pressure in the oil galleries of
the engine long after the engine is shut down. Thsi helps keep the
lifters inflated with oil. Also are you religious in your oil changes.
My van rattles the lifters if I don't change oil on schedule. And
finally, put some Marvels Mystery Oil into the oil sump. It's amazing
stuff, and really does the job. In the case of the WBX engine, MMO is
not snake oil. It really works, as attested by me, and many others on
this list. Additionally, MMO is good for the fuel injectors as well.

These are just some of the little tricks that members have learned over
time and have passed along. They work.
