Jeff,

I just did a full stereo install in my Westy. You have to remove the door panels to get to your speakers. Once you get the door panels off it will become very obvious how to replace the speakers. I used a door panel removal tool to pry the original speakers out of their mounts. I then bent the tabs on my Infinity 3052CF speakers in order for them to fit inside the original speaker housings. I used thin strips of self-adhesive foam weather-stripping to line the inside of the speaker housing (strips were about 4 mm tall and 2 mm wide), so when I put the speakers inside they would rest gently against the foam. You have to make sure that the cone surround does not touch this foam. I pushed the speakers in until the tweeter housing grounded against the inside of the speaker grille. I used silicone to seal the 1mm gap around the back of the speaker and to secure the speaker inside of the housing. I then mounted the speaker enclousures just like stock speakers.

I did all of this to forego any window crank clearance problems with aftermarket grilles and give potential thieves less eye-candy.
