douche it with cheap rubbing alcohol before ripping it out.
Put lots of newpapers underneath and drench it with rubbing alcohol.  The alcohol disolves the brake fluid and cleans up nicely into thin air.
Of course do not smoke anything around your van at this time.

Lee, my man, just pull it in toto leaving the cork attached. It's a two man
job. Soap and water won't dissolve the bond, obviously.
