N8SRE here.  I haven't put a radio in the van yet, but I've got a Ranger
RCI-2950 10-meter all-mode that I plan to install once the weather warms
up a bit.  I have a diesel, so I'm going to have to run a cable clear
from the back of the van for the traditional "direct to battery"
connection.  I have the traditional Vanagon high-resistance ground
problem, so I'm considering running a heavier than normal cable for the
negative connection and tying all the main under-dash grounds to it.
