No need to remove the tank. Removing the two heater hoses will help. Make sure all hoses go back to their original locations. It does matter which way the coolant flows through the radiator and heater core.

I want to replace the long coolant pipes going to/from the radiator, as the flanges have corroded/broken. Is it necessary to remove the fuel tank? If so, is this something an amateur "mechanic" (me) could handle? Any tips/suggestions on the procedure?

Thanks,

James 90 Carat
