Subject: gas tank causing stalling?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

My stalling while idleing problem has become such a regular event, that's it's become dangerous and I decided to take Gypsy to a mechanic (he does work on vanagons and other VW's, but I've never used him before). My power loss problem also has come back.

This mechanic sent me home without even looking at the van (knowing that I have recently replaced fuel filter, air filter, plugs, wires, rotor, dist. cap, Hall sender, coil,O2 sensor and soldered a capacitor in the air flow meter) and told me to get a new gas tank - that there's something wrong with the baffles, and the engine is starving for fuel. Does this make sense to anyone? I haven't seen it mentioned in any of the posts regarding the stalling syndrom - although Mark's posts in the archives come the closest regarding water in the fuel.

Thanks,

deb '85 Westy "Gypsy"
