Subject:      red  oil light?

Started my new engine last night ,sounded really good
at first than started making a tap tap sounded thought
it was the lifters than I told my wife to check the
oil light... she said yes its on .....I told her her
to shut her down! Checked the oil andd its right up
there. Started it again and it started right up but
the oil light stay on. Could it be that the oil light
is malfunctiong? or should I just drive it and see if
goes out?  thanks Ty
