the plywood subfloor in a westy is substantial enough to do the job without all the extra work of ripping up the floor and welding in those metal cups.. even better yet - drill the holes in the plywood and if youre really worried, install a brass cup socket (not the right term) but its a plumbing fitting that you can get the same size as the nibs on the jumpseat feet. there is a local guy to me who did this when installing a jumpseat in his (also a 88) westy and the result looks professional (paint the fittings to match your floor) and its very substantial. In a collision youd bend the sheetmetal in your batterybox (where the jumpseat bracket is mounted) before youd mess those holes up in the plywood.
