The only way I have found to keep the interior temperature of my camper from substantially exceeding the exterior temperature is to park in the shade. In direct sunlight, the interior temperature will exceed the exterior temp by 30-40F in less than 30 minutes. I have a white pop top, window tint, windshield sun blockers and thats reality for me here in Florida - don't leave anything in the van that you don't want cooked. The air conditioning will cool off the interior at a rate of 2-3F per minute. On a typical Orlando day, my interior temps will be 125-135F so it takes 15-20 minutes to get them down under 80F. On a day like today, 88F and partly cloudy, the interior temps will level out around 100F, the interior will cool in less than 10 minutes and you can run the A/C on fan speed 2 at 1/3 temp setting.
