If you get an Optima Yellow Top Deep Cycle Battery then it is designed to be repeatedly drawn down. Standard Batterys really hate to be nearly discharged repeatedly. Plus it is much easier to make a spiral cell battery fit into the aux. battery locale. You can lie it on it's side and there is no need for a breather tube, plently of room for connections etc. Cory ----- Original Message ----- From: "David Devere" <devereda@MSN.COM> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Wednesday, March 12, 2003 10:03 AM Subject: Optima vs. Generic
Can anyone convince me why, besides the obvious reason of better charge life, I should buy an Optima battery vs. using an old Die Hard for a second aux. battery in my van? What are the problems with using a conventional battery? I understand the Optima is safer because it is sealed but do I really need to be that worried?
