Did this in my rusty syncro in november. If your vehicle is rusty at all the only chance you have of getting these apart is to heat it with a torch. Otherwise expect to replace the entire metal tubing also. This is a BIG PITA. The tubing in german vehicle has a special Bubble fare. NO its not a Double fare. It is special to many europine vehicles. If you think you can buy the metal lines already made up, the problem becomes the length. I had to purchase a special tool to make the Bubble flair. It you need to, I can make up the metal tubing with the flair on it, to any given length for you and mail it. The ETKA has the length in it, (at least for the syncro). I did not find thelengths for the Jetta or Golf. Go figure and good luck.
