I assume that a locking diff is better for really nasty roads because there isn't any slip, but most of us aren't dealing with that. From what has been said, I gather that there was a limited-slip option from VW that is expensive and hard to find, and a possibility that Quaife would build a run of their torque-biasing differential if enough people would commit. Anyone have personal experience with Quaife? Their price list generally runs 900-1300 for stock parts. How about the VW limited slip? - Mike
