Also, consider the height of the vent on the transmission. If you submerge it, you'll need to change the transmission fluid because it will be full of water. Obligatory safety note: Still water is one thing, but never try to ford deep moving water. The amount of force generated by moving water is surprisingly high, and a foot of fast-moving water can be enough to send you and your car downstream.
