Chris, you've changed the subject of this thread. The subject was clearing a
salvage title from the vehicle records. I believe you know that. Come on,
most of us know your view on these things. It's IN the archives how you even
posted VIN plates for sale for the exact same purpose.;)
<< Then big filthy rich Real Estate brokers like Ben (jk ben! ;<)) come in
and take their house over at a real estate auction/sheriffs sale or whatever.
buyers of house dont want the cherry westy in the garage, so they have it
hauled off.. once again
junkyard/impound says "this is too nice to junk" and sell it whole w/o
title. >>
You are watching way too much late night infomercials on this crap. If you
want to take a cheap shot at my occupation go to pmail. Sorry, this does not
cut it. "(jk ben! ;<))". In California WHERE I am a Realtor, you simply go to
the local DMV and fill-out a form saying you lost the title. Cost $7. If the
person died and did not sign the original title, you get that person's
Executor to sign a title for you. Cost nothing. If there is no Executor, the
court will assign one. You don't just take the property w/o dues process.
That's stealing even if you are a relative of the deceased. If you legally
obtain the vehicle without any of the above scenarios, you perform a lien
sale. Costs about $20 if you do it yourself. About $75 for a bonded company
to do one for you.
SALVAGE is SALVAGE even under any of the above scenarios. If the vehicle has
been tagged as such, most VIN searches performed for any of the above will
reveal a salvage title.
<< nothing fraudulent about it. both vehicles have good titles, but the
titles
are just lost and the last owners are either dead or not interested in having
anymore to do w/ said vehicle. so it is up to the buyer to get a title. a
buddy of mine bought a '68 bug conv this way. car was primo, from cali, some
rich japanese exchange student drove it out here from berkely when he
transferred to princeton, then abandoned it in the school parking lot when he
graduated and went back to Japan.. nothing wrong w/ the car, it wasnt stolen
or wrecked, it just had no keys or title. damn thing ran and drove great.
youd be suprised what people abandon, for any reason. my bud picked it up
for $1500 from a yard outside of Trenton w/o a title. >>
Abandoned vehicles are not branded SALVAGE in California regardless of who
and how it was abandoned. The DMV here has enough foresight for that. But if
the yard calls the vehicle salvage for whatever reason, the salability of
that vehicle is effectively "damaged". Managing to change that designation is
FRAUD.
<< used the following company with great results. he just sent them the vin
and $200 and that was it. and no, it doesnt have a nevada title, it now has
a good NJ title in his name. check out their website for particulars. >>
Yes, I'm using them as well. But not to clear salvage tags. Unfortunately
they do not do a thorough enough check to identify the cheaters. BTW, you can
do this same thing by asking a listee or a friend who lives in Nevada to do
the exact same thing for you. Costs much less.
